Dear, Kind Z[meskall],

       Although the form of address perhaps may not be exactly what it ought to be, kindly explain verbally to your servant that he is to deliver the letter at the ordinary domestic bureau and tell the officials there to send me servants from seven to half past eight in the morning and to continue to do so until I ask them to stop – Probably the best arrangement, after all, would be to add my address here as well –

       Forgive me, my dear Z[meskall], and when in need just order some notes from your friend [Anderson footnote: “One of Beethoven’s favourite puns, i.e. on the words ‘Nöten’ (needs) and ‘Noten’ (notes).”]
